We accidentally ended up at the Nature Center at Greenburgh yesterday, and I couldn’t be happier. We wandered into their live Butterfly Arbor—where butterflies fluttered all around us. It’s one of those simple experiences that fells a little bit magical.
So here’s just a quick note to share some photos and remind you that today is actually the last day of the season for the Arbor, if you’d like to still see them this year. Pretty soon they will open up the doors and let them all fly away! So grab the kids, take a ride and savor this one last bit of summer magic.

But there’s more to this metamorphosis…
But the best part is how the Center has been undergoing its own metamorphosis. It opened in 1975 and became a beloved community gem over the course of 50 years—until, all of a sudden, its contract was in question and we didn’t know if it would continue. It’s amazing how the community stepped up and fought to continue its legacy.
Today, the Center is renewed for another 25 years, has a fresh new brand identity, and has made some major updates, including a beautiful new Welcome Pavilion and turtle barn. But more than anything, it just feels like a breath of fresh air—a refreshed space with a renewed sense of energy and possibility.
So if you haven’t been in a while, I highly recommend visiting again. And just look at this picture I took of their bulletin board: kid-friendly camping at the Center? Yes, please!
